Johanna A. Kremer Hovinga, MD is an Assoc. Professor of Hematology at the University of Bern, and works at Bern University Hospital (Inselspital) in Bern, Switzerland. She is the head of the Hemophilia comprehensive care center (adult section) at the Department of Hematology and of the hemostasis laboratory at the Center of Laboratory Medicine. Her research group at the Department for Biomedical Research, University of Bern focuses on Von Willebrand factor and its size regulator, ADAMTS13 in health and diseases states, mainly von Willebrand disease and thrombotic microangiopathies, particularly thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura(TTP). She has authored and co-authored more than 170 papers and heads the International Hereditary TTP Registry (www.ttpregistry.net), a cohort study initiated in 2006 to follow patients with ultra-rare hereditary TTP prospectively worldwide.
