Description

Bruna Gigante MD PhD is an italian cardiologist with an extensive training in molecular biology, clinical cardiology and epidemiology. She has been working as research fellow at Harvard Medical School on an experimental model of genetic hypertension and completed thereafter a PhD program in Experimental and Clinical Medicine (2006). Since 2007 she has been working at Karolinska Institutet and has been appointed a tenure track position as associate professor in cardiovascular epidemiology in 2015. She has co-authored some 130 publications in the field of molecular cardiology and epidemiology most of them in leading cardiovascular journals. The main focus of her current research is the identification of novel biomarkers able to define cardiovascular risk profiles above and beyond the commonly used risk scores.
